FNRI Nutrition Educator's Kit
The FNRI Nutrition Educator's Kit is very handy and contains simple and easy-to-understand materials which will be useful to health workers and barangay nutrition scholars during the conduct of mothers class in their respective barangays.
Folate Contents of Foods
The handbook on folate content of foods consumed by Filipinos is a compilation of food folate values from six Food Composition Tables (FCTs) of several countries (Philippines, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, and United States of America). In additio, said folate values were also culled from food data of some Philippine food manufacturing firms. The handbook will help nutritionists and dietitians estimate and evaluate the adequacy of folate intakes of the population. It will also guide other allied health researchers in conducting studies regarding diet-health-disease relationships especially among population groups at-risk of having folate deficiency.

The glycemic index (GI) of foods was introducted to provide additional information about foods, to be considered along with their nutritional composition to assist in food choice. GI classify foods in terms of their glycemic response whether foods eaten release glucose rapidly or in a slow and sustained fashion for a period of time. The use of the GI for classifying carbohydrates foods was recommended by the Food and Agriculture Organization and World Health Organization in conjunction with food composition tables to guide food choices. It also advocated the consumption of high carbohydrate (CHO) diet (>55% of energy from CHO), with the bulk of CHO-containing foods being rich in non-starch polysaccharides e.g. dietary fiber, with low GI (<55)
