The Proficiency Testing Laboratory (PTL) of the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) successfully completed its first surveillance visit and special assessment under the ISO 17043:2023 standard on January 27-28, 2025.

The Department of Trade and Industry - Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) reaffirmed PTL’s dedication in maintaining its quality management system for proficiency testing, recognizing it as the sole ISO 17043-accredited provider in the Philippines.

The assessment, led by Mr. Marlon A. Macadamia, alongside Ms. Katrina A. Talle and Ms. Mina A. Mercado from Philippine Metrology, Standards, Testing, and Quality (PhilMSTQ) Inc., involved a comprehensive evaluation to ensure PTL’s continued compliance with the highest standards in proficiency testing services.

The evaluation resulted in no non-conformities, and PTL was recommended for an expansion of its accreditation to include bread and biscuits, in addition to its existing nine scopes. Ms. Joan C. Duldulao and Mr. Michael C. Pelagio were also recommended as additional signatories for bread and infant formula, alongside the currently approved signatory, Ms. Leah C. Dajay.

The PTL's commitment to advancing proficiency testing activities, which assist local laboratories in meeting international standards, was commended during the assessment. With 13 years of accreditation, PTL continues to uphold its quality policy, demonstrating its dedication to excellence in proficiency testing.
