The Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) launched the 2019 Menu Guide Calendar (MGC) on February 6, 2019, 10:30 AM at the HS Auditorium, 2nd Floor, OPD Building, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

The PNP Health Service gave Foyer Honors to welcome DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña. To start the launching, PSSupt. Alberto A. Avila, Deputy Director, PNP Health Service, gave welcome and opening remarks. An audio visual presentation (AVP) was shown to present the features of the calendar followed by the formal launching of the 2019 Menu Guide Calendar. Present during the unveiling of the 2019 MGC were DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, PCSupt. Maria Antonietta C. Langcauon, Director, PNP Health Service, PSSupt. Alberto A. Avila, Deputy Director, PNP Health Service, and DOST-FNRI Director Dr. Mario V. Capanzana. After the unveiling, DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, gave special message where he underscored the importance of good nutrition among men in uniform. DOST Secretary de la Peña also mentioned various DOST programs that the PNP can consider in their future projects.

The 2019 Menu Guide Calendar is intended for the Men in Uniform and the Military. Highlighted are 12 sets of nutritious meals (2 combo meals and 10 one-dish meals), 4 weekly 7-day cycle menus incorporating the photo documented recipes with estimates of energy and nutrient content per serving. Each meal of viand, rice and dessert meets 1/3 of their recommended energy and protein intake and provides essential nutrients for optimum nutrition. Recipes are a mix of regional, contemporary and popular recipes that can be easily prepared, with ingredients that are readily available and at affordable cost.

Let this 2019 Menu Guide Calendar serve as a guide in planning, preparing and serving healthy, affordable and easy-to-prepare meals for men in uniform and their families.
