The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), complying with its mandate to define the nutrition situation in the country, particularly among various population groups, conducted the 2003 or Sixth National Nutrition Survey (NNS). This was a follow-through of the NNS of 1978, 1982, 1987, 1993 and 1998, and the Updating of the Nutritional Status of Filipino Children in 1989/90, 1992, 1996 and 2001. The 6th NNS included four major components, namely, Anthropometric Nutrition Survey, Biochemical Nutrition Survey, Clinical Nutrition Survey and Food Consumption Survey. This report focuses on Anthropometric Nutrition Survey that covered 0-5 and 6-10 years old children, 11- 19 years old preadolescents and adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, and other adults 20 years of age and over.

1 cup cooked rice = 4 slices of loaf bread
                           = 5 pcs small pan de sal
                           = 1 cup of corn
