Results of the study on virgin coconut oil (VCO) as dietary supplement among COVID-19 probable and suspect cases showed that 5 of the 29 patients who were served meals with VCO manifested diminishing signs and symptoms as early as the second day, while only one patient served with the same meals but without VCO showed similar improvement.

The Department of Science and Technology’s– Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) conducted a virtual business forum for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) of Region VI on January 27, 2021. This aims to promote DOST-FNRI technology transfer services in Western Visayas.

The DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s Institutional Ethics Review Committee, or FIERC, was awarded Level 2 Accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB). The online awarding was held on July 30, 2020. The accreditation is effective July 2, 2020 until July 1, 2021.
