The Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST) presented the 2014 Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intake for Filipinos (RENI) during the Stakeholders' Conference at the Traders Hotel Manila on October 3, 2014.
The conference presented the updated and revised RENI generated feedback from concerned sectors on the changes in the levels of nutrients needed to remain healthy.

The Accounting Section of the FNRI-DOST bagged the most coveted award as one of the most outstanding accounting offices in the country for three consecutive years. This places the Institute in the roster of Hall of Famers.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) forged a partnership with the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST). The collaboration provided food safety capability building activities to the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) teachers and trainers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

About ﬁve in every 10 or (52.3 percent) of infants aged 0-5 months were exclusively breastfed, according to the 2013 National Nutrition Survey (NNS). This was an increase from 46.7 percent in the 2011 survey. The NNS is done by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) every ﬁve years.
This was reported during the National Breastfeeding Month culmination activity of the Department of Health by Dr. Cecilia Cristina Acuin, Chief Science Research Specialist of the Nutritional Assessment Management Division of FNRI. The event was held on August 26, 2014.
The Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) component of the 2013 NNS also revealed that 77.1 percent of infants were breastfed within an hour after delivery.

The FNRI successfully conducted the 40th Seminar Series on July 3-4, 2014 at the FNRI Building in Bicutan, Taguig City. The FSS adopted this year's Nutrition Month Theme, "Kalamidad Paghandaan: Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan!"
Attending the gathering were 845 nutritionist-dietitians, nutrition action o cers, food industry professionals, barangay nutrition scholars, food technologists, local government health workers and students. In his message, DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo mentioned the e orts by the DOST in giving warning and assisting in disaster rehabilitation. These e orts include improving the nutritional status of a ected communities in the regions a ected by natural and man- made calamities.
